Beer Bread #1: Fast and Easy


3 cups self-rising flour
2 tbsp sugar
12 oz beer, at room temperature


Preheat oven to 350°. Mix everything together. Grease a loaf pan. Pour your mixture in the pan. Place in the oven on the center rack and bake for about forty-five minutes, then butter the top. Return to the oven for another few minutes, or until done.

This beer bread recipe is wonderful served with stew or soup.

Beer Bread #2: Herbed Beer Bread


3 cup self rising flour
3 tbsp sugar
1 tbsp dried Italian herbs
12 oz beer at room temperature
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp shortening
3 tbsp cornmeal
2 tbsp softened butter


Combine the flour, sugar, cheese herbs. Mix. Add the beer, forming a stiff batter.

Preheat oven to 325°. Use the shortening to grease a loaf pan. Sprinkle the cornmeal around the pan. Place the batter in the pan.

Bake for about 65 minutes. Remove from oven. Brush with soft butter and sprinkle with additional cornmeal. Cool on a rack.
